As a new initiative for 2019, CalGovHR will be offering this exclusive and optional Executive Leadership Retreat for those who hold supervisory, management, and executive leadership positions in HR, including: HR Directors (CHROs), HR Managers, and HR Supervisors. ABOUT THE LABOR RELATIONS AND NEGOTIATIONS CALIFORNIA-SPECIFIC HR INSTITUTE™ WORKSHOP (MARCH 13, 2019)

This workshop covers basic principles and legal requirements for California public agencies in employee and labor relations, including legislation, public sector unions (including the recent Supreme Court decision in Janus v. AFSCME and Senate Bill 866), contract negotiations, employer-employee relations ordinances, impasse procedures, employee due process, investigations, disciplines, workplace rights of public employees (including Weingarten rights and Skelly rights), Constitutional and First Amendment issues for public sector employees, grievance handling, arbitrations preparation, hearing, and implementation of arbitration decisions, post-arbitration labor relations considerations, unfair labor practice (ULP) charges, mediation, 2019 public sector labor and employment law updates, and current trends. 

Also, attendees will hear firsthand from State Mediation and Conciliation Service (SMCS) of the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) on ways to utilize SMCS in managing an organization's labor relations program, and alternative dispute resolution methods to resolve management-labor conflicts. The training will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Sonoma Wine Country on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, and this course is part of the California-Specific HR Institute™ and can be applied towards the CalGovHR Certified Professional™ (CGHR-CP) designation. The 2019 CalGovHR Conference & Expo™ will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Sonoma Wine Country. For Conference attendees, a limited number of discounted rooms at the conference group rate are available for as low as $149/night + tax (on a first-come, first-served basis; valid for stays between March 12 through 17, 2019). HR CERTIFICATIONS AND ATTORNEY MCLE CREDITS

CalGovHR is a SHRM Recertification Provider, and this program is valid for eight (8) PDCs toward SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP recertification for each day of participation. IPMA-HR Certified Professionals (IPMA-CP) and IPMA-HR Senior Certified Professionals (IPMA-SCP) may earn three (3) points of re-certification credits for each day of participation at the Conference.  

For attorneys, CalGovHR will apply for general MCLE credits with the State Bar of California. In addition, the Overcoming Unconscious Bias at Work session has been pre-approved by the State Bar of California for 1.25 hours of MCLE credits (including 1.25 recognition and elimination of bias hours). Proof of attendance will be provided upon request.

PAYMENT AND CANCELLATION POLICY

Full payment must be received prior to the start of the program. CalGovHR does not provide refunds for training/event cancellations, but registrations are transferable to another attendee for the same program provided the substitute attendee has the same membership status. All requests for transfer of registration fees must be made in writing at least three business days prior to the start of the program. If you cancel your registration without providing a substitute by the deadline as described above, you will forfeit your registration fees. No-shows are non-refundable.
