Salary: $139,584-$172,332 annually

The City of Santa Monica is seeking a Human Resources Manager to lead the Labor and Employee Relations HR Division in delivering the department’s mission to provide exceptional service to the public, employees and City departments.

Santa Monica is a Charter City with a Council-Manager form of government.  The City Manager, Rick Cole, was appointed by the Council in 2015.  Under the direction of the Human Resources Director, the Human Resources Manager, will support the entire City organization in providing best in class labor and employee relations services.  The City has a total budget of $774.9 million for FY 2017-2018 and the Human Resources Department budget is $5 million with 27 staff members. 

The ideal candidate for this position will be a forward thinking, people centric, team player with a strong background in delivering public sector employee and labor relations services.  This candidate will be an experienced leader and innovative problem solver with solid expertise in labor and employee relations.  Successful candidates will have experience operating within a fast-paced, data driven environment and possess the ability to respond to multiple stakeholders, while building productive relationships that are in in the best interest of the City.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Public or Business Administration or a closely related field is required.  A master's degree in a related field is highly desirable.  Five years of public sector human resources experience including significant experience in employee relations and labor relations is required; and two of the required years must consist of supervisory and/or management experience.
